Many mysteries concerning the the Alcubierre drive exist. The man who first discovered the technology to make possible Humanities push into into interstellar travel has become a legend, and widespread religious icon in the lore of Uprising. Though he was known as a different name back on Earth the people of the Uprising universe refer to him as Daedelus. What the nations of Earth, and later the Protectorate had tried, and failed, to keep secret was that the Alcubierre drive wasn't Daedelus's only technological miracle. It was simply the only massive scale one they were able to crack and replicate at the time. During his time on Earth Daedelus was accomplished in building machines, and discovering technologies that were many centuries ahead of his time. As the years went by the Big Ten managed to figure out most of what he invented and has incorporated it into use for their own purposes. But eventually word got out about the existence of such technology, and just happening to have some in ones possession granted a great deal of power and influence as well as highly advanced and rare possibly 'undiscovered' technology. Many cult and religious followings sprouted from the worship of these technologies and the man behind them. The most prominent of which is the Sons of Daedelus. Over time the ancient legend of Icarus flying too close to the sun had become warped, and had turned into a story of ascension to greatness. Which the highly technologically based Sons of Daedelus root their beliefs on. One of which is the acquiring and usage of the Daedelus technology would lead to this eventual greatness, in whichever form that may take. There would be 'common' Daedalus tech. That which the Protectorate and Earth had managed to crack and incorporate, but are still pretty dang amazing by our standards. You'd be able to pick these things up at Black Markets and specialty shops or they may have just become widespread common use like the Alcubierre Drive. Then there's the 'undiscovered' or 'legendary' (term used by Daedelus worshipers) scale. This would be the stuff that hundreds of years of research has yielded very little results of. Because of how little progress they have had in understanding it, replicating the machines and technology have proven impossible. Therefore only a few, or in some cases just one of these 'artifacts' exist. So far the Alcubierre drive is the only legendary piece of Daedelus tech that has been cracked, and replicated. It's a relatively small one compared to the scale of other legendary techs that are out there.
So yeah just some ideas I had concerning a little uprising lore. I'd be a challenge coming up with some of these legendary Daedelus technologies without breaking whatever realism the creators wanted to keep with the Uprising project, but I'm interested to see what people can come up with working within those barriers. Details of the aspect of the lore aren't very well fleshed out yet, I know. It's just a kinda skeleton of an idea of which I'd appreciate getting feedback on, but I'd think there's a decent amount of potential this could add to plot. How did he discover this technology? Was he simply a genius beyond any discernible magnitude or did he have some sort of divine or Xeno related help? Say a group of rebels just happened to get their hands on some of this tech. Hmm? Thanks for reading.

Well, if I may make a suggestion, you could use the most far-away theories of our current science and force them to work. An example? Maybe there is a device capable of making insubstantial those who use it. Obviously this would not exist in our reality, but according to Schrödinger's cat, and according to quantum physics something can be and not be at the same time. But something that is and is not the same is in reality? Yes and no. And 'out of phase. And so the lag can be applied to your device. It's an incredible override but using theories and existing technologies you can create fictional technology but not completely far-fetched.

Well, the Alcubeirre drive was developed in the 90's by Miguel Alcubeirre, in Mexico. But that brings to mind an interesting point: what if this mythical Datalus, was in fact many many many different people, and all of their ideas and technologies have been merely attributed to this mythical individual?
Some examples I can think of off the top my head, would be: the fuel-cell technology that makes large parts of the universe work, vastly increased battery efficiency, cloud-based quantum computing, the various grades of artificial intelligence (although most AI development has been due to forced labor by Follower aliens), processes for manipulating subatomic particles to create synthetic matter, and processes for generating large amounts of antimatter necessary for powering Alcubeirre drives and other massive power-hogs.

The myth might also serve as a handy way of explaining away technologies that were actually invented by aliens, to preserve the myth of human superiority.

Morphing all those scientist's ideas and technologies into Daedelus sounds like an awesome concept. But for some of the non-Xeno origin technologies (me referring to your second post) there might still need to be an explanation of who or what the heck got these theoretical technologies working on the human front. Unless you were thinking along the lines of most of the Daedalus tech being Xeno in origin and not human. And yeah I was thinking on the same lines with the seemingly impossible tech fitting in.

Your saying a device that could make you non-existent yet existent by your own perspective? Not quite invisibility because you don't just exist to the naked eye, but to the universe in general. Sounds like a pretty nifty piece of technology and definitely along the lines of the technology I thought possible by incorporating a figure like Daedalus.

Humanity is the most technologically advanced race. Any Xeno technologies are simply developments on existing human tech that happened to be invented by aliens working for Human tech firms. But, human firms don't want to admit that aliens are responsible for their breakthroughs, so they might attribute it to the Daedalus myth to disguise its origins.
There is a lot of this sort of tech around today: Alcubeirre drives, cold fusion, quantum computing... I imagine the myth came to exist initially as a marketing gimmick, and then evolved into something much more.
But, as far as this sort of tech goes, there is a limit. Uprising doesn't have space magic, so anything that we can't prove is possible has to be sufficiently probably to provoke willing suspension of disbelief, and we should make some effort to avoid unnecessarily cliche sci-fi tropes, like energy shields and lightsabers.

Let's see if I understand
POSSIBLE TECHNOLOGIES -Neural interfaces between organic beings and machines -Bionic prostheses (hardware and wetware) -Flyers (a hybrid between a helicopter and a fighter) -Exoskeletons -AI -Quantum computers -Cold fusion -Magnetic fields -Cloacking devices -Genetic Engineering -Synthetic telepathy -FTL Travel -Warp holes
IMPOSSIBLE TECHNOLOGY -Natural ESP -Energy shields -Laser beams that blow up things -Time travel -Travel in the sun -Total invisibility -Teletransportation
Is this list right?

More than anything I thought of something that made incorporeal but still present in our universe the person who uses the device. That is, in practical terms, imagine a soldier equipped with that device. He did not attack anyone because is incorporeal being, but at the same time he could not be attacked, just because it is incorporate. I like the idea of Daedalus, which is a collective of scientists or a single person, because as the technology that feeling that science is magic because of its distance. We could exploit this sentiment.

Looks pretty good. Creators have final say of course, but this was definitely the type of stuff I had in mind. The theoretically possible stuff (maybe except for FTL), that still stay within the bounds of a real universe. More possible tech are things like space elevators, and artificial gravity to use on things like space stations and ships. The AI I would expect is mostly used in things such as management of facilities, and service AIs. Maybe even personal AIs for those wealthy enough to afford it. None of that HAL 9000 stuff of course though.

Cloaking devices meaning active camouflage, or electronics and sensor spoofing?
Worm holes are notoriously unstable, and Alcubierre FTL eliminates the need for them anyway.
I've got a whole article planned on AIs. Suffice to say they're very common, and vary greatly in intelligence.

I've got a whole article planned on AIs. Suffice to say they're very common, and vary greatly in intelligence. I mean both. There may be devices that deceive sensors or electronic devices by using interference in such a way that the holder, while being visible to the naked eye, is invisible to the machines. On the other hand there may be active camouflage devices, but would not be objects. For example, a cloak could be fabricated using metamaterial. Metamaterials direct and control the propagation and transmission of specified parts of the light spectrum, shielding something from view by controlling electromagnetic radiation. Objects in the defined location are still present, but incident waves are guided around them without being affected by the object itself. Otherwise if you need to darken something bigger than a human being (an exoskeleton or a tank) holographic projections that surround the object 360 degrees can be used, hiding it from view, or special organic materials which vest the object composed by ight absorbing cells , capable of attracting to themselves all the light around them, therefore making themselves invisible.
