Xeno human hybrids anyone? Hundreds of years ago with a surge of advancements in Bioresearch Protectorate scientist began experimenting with Human-Xeno hybrids. They accidentally created a short lived galactic incident when a series of the specimens escaped confinement and caused panic throughout several largely populated world. Protectorate forces, and local rebel militias for a short time worked together to eradicate the abominations, and succeeded in killing off nearly every single one of them. After this the Protectorate banned all experimentation regarding Human-Xeno hybrids.
Those smart enough to escape their hunters managed to spread out across the galaxy. Generations later the result is a vary small percentage of the population with Xeno DNA ingrained in them. They are severely looked down upon by the wider galactic community. Some die because of their defects quickly after birth, while others are forced to keep their secret for fear of being hunted by Protectorate, or (often violently) harassed by the people. Some mutations you can see some you cannot. Those you can see might be a strange discoloration of the eye, or an odd patch of skin. Internal changed range from damaged organ systems and on even rarer occasions entirely new organs.

I'm going to go with no. Genetic manipulation is definitely a thing, but the issues involved in subsequent reproduction between hybrids/multiple species are too great. Remember, a species is essentially defined by its inability to produce viable/fertile offspring with other species. Hybrids might exist between very, very closely related species (ligers being the trivial example, or in the context of Uprising, MAYBE Humans and Followers), but they would be exceedingly rare, and infertile even if they did exist. Plus, from a strictly universe building standpoint, it opens a can of worms as regards Sue characters that I just don't want to deal with.

That's understandable. Looking back I suppose I left a pretty wide gap as far as reproduction is concerned.

One other thing to consider is genetic compatibility. Alien DNA might not even be possible to integrate with human DNA, or might cause biological incompatibilities that lead to spontaneous abortion.
